Fattoria Selvapiana
Fattoria Selvapiana was founded in 1827 by Florentine banker Michele Giuntini in the section of Chianti Rufina. The winery is still owned by the Giuntini family. Since 2002, the winery has been working on ecological wine-making practices. The hills where the Rufina vineyards are located are at the foot of the Apennines, the mountain ranges that divides Tuscany from Emilia Romagna. The closeness of the mountains strongly influences the microclimate of the area with cooler summers and large temperature differences between day and night. For this reason, the grapes ripen slowly throughout the summer season to achieve a beautiful balance of all aromatic compounds. Thanks to this, the wines not only have fresh acidity, great finesse and elegance, but also silky tannins and a long aftertaste.
