Ruffino

Ruffino is an icon of Tuscan winemaking. This vineyard was founded in 1877 by two cousins: Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino on the outskirts of the small town of Pontassieve, near Florence. They were known for their meticulous compliance the standards of quality they set themselves. In 1927, the first bottle of Chirnti Riserva Ducale series was produced. Its name and label honor the Prince of Aosta, who was so impressed by the Ruffino wine that made the vinery the official wine supplier for the Italian Royal family. It resembles an important event in the history of the vineyard and the whole of Tuscany. In 1947 first bottle of Ruffino, Chianti Riserva Ducale Oro - one of the most important wines in the history was produced. Since that time it has since been produced only in exceptional vintages.
