The history of Dopff-Au-Moulin began in 1574 in the small town of Riquewihr, which surroundings are now considered as one of the most beautiful wine regions in Alsace. Riquewihr is 300 m a.s.l. It is surrounded by mountain ranges and the climate is perfect for wine production. It was there that Jean Daniel, the founder of the company, first came into contact with wine. However, it wasn't until two centuries later that an independent vineyard, a fully family-owned business, was established. Currently, Dopff-Au-Moulin consists of three wineries, that have been granted AOC appeals: Alsace Grand Cru Riquewihr - Schoenenbourg, Riquewihr - Sporen and Turckheim - Brand.
