Established in 1970, the El Coto de Rioja winery began operating as a small group of enthusiasts. Despite its humble beginnings, today it belongs to the group of the largest Spanish producers and exporters of wines, known and valued in over 50 countries. The first vintage El Coto de Rioja hit the market in 1975. Since then, the winery has grown significantly, which is mainly due to the openness to investment in modern technologies and the constant expansion of the vineyard area. On nearly 3,000 hectares, it mainly cultivates red varieties of Tempranillo and Garnacha and white Viura. Since all red wines produced in El Coto de Rioja ripen in oak barrels, the factory has one of the largest barrel stocks in the world (over 70,000).
